When filing for bankruptcy, most people worry about who will know. Many people think that all their friends and family will know about it. The only way people really find out that you had to file bankruptcy is because you told them. A bankruptcy is a public record but in these times newspapers do not publish these filings. If you list a family member or friend in your bankruptcy is a creditor, they definitely will find out as they will be notified by the court. If this is the case, it would be best to give them a call and discuss it with them instead of them getting a letter from the torrid telling them that you included them in your bankruptcy filing.
