Household Pets
Household pets are animals that live in household as part of the family. Dogs and cats are the most popular household animals while some people keep reptiles rodents and birds as pets. Household pets are different from livestock like dairy cows or sports animals used for racing like horses or lab animals. Before raising household pets families need to consider many factors. Many condominium associations and apartment blocks do not allow pets as a rule. Some local government bodies have rules and regulations about keeping animals in local residences. While dogs and cats are allowed as pets some potentially dangerous types of dogs like pit bulls are not allowed because they could harm neighbors or their children. The number of animals each household can possess is also regulated by the local home owners association or local government. Pets are expensive and households should consider whether raising a pet will fit their budget. Pet food is expensive and pet require periodic health examinations and vaccinations. The hair and dander from pets could cause allergies in some patients. The age of children in the household is an important consideration. The child should not harm pets nor should the child face the possible misfortune of being harmed by pets. Household animals should be looked after with the same care and concern as the children of the household. Families must consider whether they can find the time to take care of pets in their busy schedules before buying animals as household companions. The safety of the family pet while the family is away at work or on vacation is a concern before buying pets. When families go on vacation they will need to leave pets at boarding facilities that are usually very expensive. Pets are regarded as the best companions for human beings. Raising pets after addressing all concerns about the health and safety of the animal will go a long way in raising a happy and healthy pet.
