Functional hallux limitus

Our big toe joint is an extremely important joint when we walk. Next time you walk, notice how this is the joint that the foot pivots at when walking. We need movement at that joint to allow us to move forward. If the joint does not bend properly, then it is harder for us to move forward and the body will try and get that motion at other joints. That difficulty in moving forward consumes energy. The extra movement at other joints can be painful. One of the more common conditions that cause this are functional hallux limitus and Hallux rigidus.
