A Tribute to My mother When the Time Comes
My mom lives in a nursing home now. At the ripe old age of ninety-two, she doesn’t hear quite as well, nor remember everything we tell her. But her smile is as warm and caring as ever and her heart still beats with that special mother’s love. It will be my responsibility to give the eulogy when the time comes to say goodbye to her. I have so many fond memories and stories of growing up in her midst of her fierce, protective love. She sheltered me from the worst life storms, but she also tried to prepare me to face my own battles when necessary. She did the job of a mother and a father because she had no choice, and she did the job well.
